Who can attend security guard training at Securing Communities?

Our guard card training is available to anyone who has completed the guard card class registration ($60). The training class is a required step in the certification process and must be completed before you can legally work as a security officer in California.

How long does the security guard training take?

Our guard card training is completed in a single 8-hour class. You can get your California BSIS-required certification in just one day.

How much does guard card training cost?

Guard card class registration is $60. After registering you'll be enrolled in our 8-hour in-person training class which covers all BSIS-required curriculum.

What does the training curriculum cover?

The course covers everything required by the California BSIS including legal powers and limitations of a security officer, emergency response procedures, observation and incident documentation, de-escalation techniques, and first aid awareness.

Do I need a guard card to work in security in California?

Yes — a California guard card is legally required to work as a security officer in the state. It's issued by the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) and completing our training class is a required step before you can obtain it.

Can I apply to work at Securing Communities after completing training?

Absolutely — we're always looking for qualified guards to join our team. After completing your training and obtaining your guard card, you're welcome to apply directly with us. Check our careers page for open positions.
